Welcome to the website of the Department of Document studies, Linguistics, Philology and Geography.

The Department of Document studies, Linguistics, Philology and Geography was founded in July 2010. It focuses on the studies of language, text, document and territory and its purpose is to investigate methods, languages, forms and environments of the transmission of cultural evidence. Its educational calling is mainly expressed in the fields of Linguistics, Philology, Literature, Geography, Archival Science and Library Science. The new Department was created by merging three existing Departments: the Department of sciences of book and document, the Department of Philology, Linguistics and Literature, and the Department of signs, spaces and cultures (Geography, Linguistics, German studies, Musicology).

Particular fields of interest of the Department:

  • Theoretical analysis of the different linguistic and meta-linguistic practices and dynamics
  • Philological, critical and comparative investigations of literary texts
  • Study of the organization and management of knowledge recorded in documents
  • Analysis of the languages devoted to description and interpretation of the signs of the human presence on the territory.

25 novembre - Giornata Internazionale contro la violenza sulle donne.
Il Dipartimento di Scienze documentarie, linguistico-filologiche e geografiche condanna ogni forma di violenza sulle donne e la combatte impegnandosi nella trasmissione di un sapere attento alla decostruzione degli stereotipi culturali e al rispetto della memoria, della storia e delle identità di soggetti e di comunità nelle loro specifiche differenze.
